Gore

The town of Gore is 64 kilometres northeast of Invercargill and 70 km west of Balclutha ‐ Dunedin and Invercargill are the nearest cities. Gore is well known for its brown trout fishing in the Mataura and surrounding rivers. The NZ Gold Guitar awards are held here in early June. The Hokonui Moonshine Museum showcases the area’s history of illicit whisky distilling which is celebrated with The Hokonui Moonshiners' Festival in March each year.
